Cleaning Housekeeping Beginner’s Guide – Essential Tools You Only Need

cleaning housekeeping

Do you remember when having your first home? You look at the cleaning section in your local store and thinking that you need all much expensive equipment to clean your new house. The truth is that you really do not need all of them. I would advise you not to over do it. Instead, start with some basic stuff for your cleaning housekeeping activities in your house.

A vacuum cleaner – a good one

When buying a vacuum cleaner, it is worth to buy one with the good quality. This is because vacuum cleaner will be used frequently and for long time. You need to choose one with long durability; this is because vacuum cleaner works on carpets and hard surfaces such as wood, laminate and vinyl. There are 2 main vacuum cleaner types in the market: upright cleaner and cylinder cleaner. In general, the upright positions vacuums are best when you have a house with large areas of carpet.

A floor mop (and bucket)

There are several types of brushes or floor mop available in the market for cleaning housekeeping purposes. The best choice is between a traditional string or cloth strips mop which require special bucket with wringer to remove excess moisture or water. The choice is much more on preference and how large is the area you want to clean. To clean larger floors, using traditional mops are faster.

Brushes and Dustpan

If you spilled something and don’t want to use vacuum cleaner, soft-bristled brush will come handy to wipe spills. Use that with stiff bristles on mats and carpets spills. Before you buy ones, look before you check whether a rim located at floor level - otherwise there is a leak brushes all the difference and buy back on the floor.

Extendable Dusting Brush

It is necessary to remove cobwebs, cupboards tops, dusting stairways, ceiling fans and top/behind the refrigerator. In this scenario you need feather dusters. There are 3 basic types – lambs wool dusters, feather dusters, and micro fibre dusters. In the term of usability and durability, micro fibre dusters and lambs wool dusters better than feather duster.

Toilet brush

Some people think that a toilet brush is not healthy and it is preferable to only use a cloth to clean the toilets occasionally. But if you buy brush integrated with a cover and clean it regularly, I think is the easiest way to clean the toilets. You could use a disposable brush to clean your toilet, even though it comes with the price.
